Win A Behind The Hill Desert Cotton Throw!
Details of this
Behind the Hill is a textile company based in Brooklyn, NY. Using a variety of wild heirloom cottons in shades of pink, terracotta, green, beige and white, they create unique and contemporary pieces for home decor using no fabric dyes whatsoever.
They partner with three communities in Central America who still grow, spin, and weave naturally tinted cotton, the same way it has been done for centuries.
They create collections which depend on harvests, not on trends.
This Desert Cotton throw is inspired by the colors of the Guatemalan earthy landscapes. It is hand-woven on a backstrap loom by Mayan weavers using a naturally brown cotton called Ixcaco. For the Mayans, the brown cotton is described as “k’o reumeq’enal” which means that it is loaded with the warmth of the sun.
